Fluvius Relighting Premium Ends on 1 January 2027: What Companies Must Arrange Before 31 December 2026
The Fluvius relighting premium for companies in Flanders stops on 1 January 2027. Conditions, formula, examples up to € 20,000 and the timeline to invoice and apply before 31 December 2026.
The Flemish relighting premium paid out by grid operator Fluvius ends on 1 January 2027. Only projects with an invoice dated in 2026, after the works, and an application submitted by 31 December 2026 still qualify. For a company that replaces fluorescent or discharge lighting in a hall, that is up to € 15,000, or € 20,000 with daylight control. This guide explains the conditions, how the amount is calculated, what you need to arrange before the deadline and why the retrofit pays off without the premium as well.
- The Fluvius relighting premium for non-residential buildings is abolished from 1 January 2027. Invoice date in 2026 and application by 31 December 2026 are the hard conditions.
- Maximum € 15,000 without daylight control, € 20,000 with daylight control; the amount follows a formula based on old and new installed power.
- Relighting means: all old luminaires and lamps removed, a lighting study, a complete new installation, carried out by a contractor with a signed certificate.
- Example: 40 × 400W HPI replaced by 40 × 150W LED high bays gives roughly € 7,000, with daylight control roughly € 10,500.
- Even without the premium a hall retrofit usually pays back within one to two years.
What is changing?
Since 2024 Flemish companies, organisations and local authorities could apply to Fluvius for a premium when they completely renewed the lighting in a non-residential building. The Flemish government has decided to abolish this premium from 1 January 2027 as part of its savings. The Mijn VerbouwPremie for non-residential buildings already stopped on 1 March 2026. Files are still accepted if the invoice is dated in 2026, after completion of the works, and the application is submitted via Mijn Fluvius no later than 31 December 2026.
In practice this means: order, install and invoice in 2026, and file the application before the end of the year. A project invoiced in January 2027 no longer qualifies. Always check the current conditions on fluvius.be before you order.
Conditions in short
- Relighting, not relamping. The existing luminaires and lamps are completely removed and disposed of. Only replacing tubes with LED tubes does not count.
- Lighting study. A lighting calculation is part of the file. Clightstore prepares a DIALux study free of charge.
- Carried out by a contractor. The installation is done by an electrical contractor, who signs the Fluvius certificate per room.
- Non-residential building in Flanders with its own EAN electricity connection.
- Invoice no older than two years at the time of application, and for 2026 files: dated in 2026.
- De minimis. The premium counts as state aid; the total over three years may not exceed € 300,000.
How much is the premium?
The amount depends on the installed system power before (Ps) and after (Pi) the relighting:
Without daylight control: S = 100 × (1 + (2 − Pi/Ps)) × Ps × 0.0015, capped at € 15,000.
With daylight control: S = 150 × (1 + (2 − Pi/Ps)) × Ps × 0.0015, capped at € 20,000.
The lower the new power compared with the old, the higher the factor. Daylight control means luminaires that dim automatically when enough daylight enters, for example under roof lights.

In the first example the fixtures cost approx. € 2,160: the premium alone is three times the price of the luminaires.
Luminaires that qualify for a relighting with lighting study
Timeline: what to arrange before 31 December 2026
- Now: send floor plan, height and current lighting. You receive a free DIALux lighting study and a quote within a few days.
- November: order the luminaires; delivery takes 2–5 working days. Book your electrician.
- November–December: installation, removal of the old luminaires, contractor certificate per room.
- Before 31 December: invoice dated 2026, application in Mijn Fluvius with invoice, certificate and lighting study.
Electricians are busy in December. Companies that order in November have the best chance of an invoice in 2026.
Why the retrofit pays off without the premium too
Take the first example: 40 HPI luminaires of 400W (approx. 440W with ballast), 2,500 operating hours, € 0.25/kWh cost € 11,000 a year in electricity. With 40 LED high bays of 150W that is € 3,750. Frequently asked questions
Until when can I apply for the Fluvius relighting premium?
Until 31 December 2026, and only with an invoice dated in 2026 after the works. From 1 January 2027 the premium no longer exists.
Does replacing tubes with LED tubes qualify?
No. Relighting requires the complete removal of old luminaires and lamps and a new installation with a lighting study.
Can I install the luminaires myself?
Not for the premium: the works must be carried out by a contractor who signs the certificate.
