Why choose the Square LED Recessed Downlight 18W

At under €11 per unit, this downlight offers a straightforward, no-fuss replacement for ageing fluorescent ceiling fittings in commercial interiors. The aluminium body dissipates heat efficiently, the 55° beam keeps light focused on work surfaces rather than walls, and the 3000K warm white tone creates a comfortable, welcoming atmosphere without the harshness of cooler alternatives.

• Efficiency: At 80 lm/W, this fitting draws 18W to produce the output of a 52W fluorescent unit, cutting lighting energy costs by more than 60%.
• Light quality: A CRI of Ra>80 renders colours accurately enough for retail displays, reception desks and office environments where appearance matters.
• Build: The white aluminium housing is rated for operating temperatures from -20 to 55°C, ensuring stable performance in both air-conditioned offices and unheated storage corridors.
• Warranty: A 3-year warranty and 50,000-hour lifespan mean minimal maintenance calls and a predictable replacement cycle for facility managers overseeing large installations.

Where to use it

This fitting suits suspended ceilings in open-plan offices, meeting rooms, hotel corridors, retail back-of-house areas and residential hallways. At a standard ceiling height of 2.5–3 metres, one unit covers roughly 4–6 m² of floor area at comfortable task-lighting levels. For larger spaces, Clightstore provides a free DIALux light study to determine the correct grid spacing before you order.

What the specifications mean in practice

• 80 lm/W: Every watt drawn produces 80 lumens of usable light, translating directly into lower electricity bills compared with fluorescent or halogen alternatives of equivalent output.
• 3000K: Warm white light that feels relaxed and inviting — well suited to reception areas, hospitality spaces and corridors where a softer ambience is preferred over clinical brightness.
• 55° beam angle: A relatively narrow spread concentrates light downward onto desks and floors, reducing spill onto walls and improving perceived contrast in the room.
• IP41: Protected against solid objects larger than 1 mm and dripping water falling vertically — suitable for indoor dry and lightly damp environments such as offices and covered car park stairwells, but not bathrooms or outdoor use.
• 50,000 hours: Running 10 hours a day, this fitting lasts approximately 13 years before replacement is needed, significantly reducing maintenance labour costs in large ceiling grids.

Installation and compatibility

The fitting recesses into a 210×210 mm cut-out in a suspended or plasterboard ceiling and connects directly to a 220–240V mains supply via the integrated on/off driver — no external driver or ballast required. Dimming is not supported on this variant. Clightstore offers a free DIALux light study to help plan grid layouts before purchase.
