Description

Why choose the Round LED Surface Downlight 24W

Where a recessed fitting is not an option — solid concrete ceilings, existing plasterboard without a void, or rooms where cutting is simply not practical — this surface downlight offers a clean, low-profile alternative. The aluminium housing keeps heat away from the LED board, and the 6000K daylight tone makes it particularly effective in task-oriented spaces where visual clarity matters.

  • Efficiency: At 80 lm/W, the 24W draw replaces fittings drawing three to four times as much power, cutting electricity costs over the 50,000-hour rated lifespan.
  • Light quality: A CRI of Ra>80 renders colours accurately enough for kitchens, utility rooms, and retail stockrooms where distinguishing product colours is important.
  • Build: The white aluminium body is only 19 mm deep, so it adds minimal visual bulk on the ceiling while dissipating heat effectively to protect the LED components.
  • Versatility: IP41 protection covers the fitting against dust ingress and vertical drips, making it suitable for kitchens and bathrooms where occasional moisture is present but direct water contact is not expected.

Where to use it

This fitting works well in residential and light commercial spaces with ceiling heights of 2.4 to 3.5 metres. Typical applications include domestic hallways and corridors, kitchen ceilings, bathroom zones outside the immediate shower area, utility rooms, small retail back-offices, and staff canteens. One or two units are generally sufficient for a standard room of 10 to 16 square metres at these mounting heights.

What the specifications mean in practice

  • 6000K: Daylight white with a cool, blue-neutral tone that promotes alertness and makes surfaces appear crisp — well suited to task areas rather than relaxation spaces.
  • 55° beam angle: A moderately focused spread that concentrates light downward, reducing wasted light on walls and making it efficient at ceiling heights up to around 3.5 metres.
  • IP41: Protected against solid objects larger than 1 mm and against vertically dripping water, covering kitchens and bathrooms outside wet zones but not direct spray or steam.
  • 50,000 hours: Running the light eight hours a day, every day, gives roughly 17 years before the LED source reaches end of rated life — significantly reducing replacement and maintenance costs.
  • UGR<22: Glare is controlled to a level acceptable for general circulation and domestic use; for office desk work requiring UGR<19, a different fitting would be more appropriate.

Installation and compatibility

The fitting surface-mounts directly to a standard ceiling backbox or flat surface using the integrated bracket — no recess required. It connects to a standard 220–240V on/off circuit; dimming is not supported. Clightstore offers a free DIALux light study to confirm the number of fittings and spacing needed for your specific room dimensions and target lux level.

Frequently asked questions

Can this downlight be used in a bathroom?

Yes, with the IP41 rating it is suitable for bathroom zones outside the immediate shower or bath area. It handles condensation and occasional drips but should not be installed directly above a shower enclosure, where IP65 or higher is required.

Is the 24W fitting dimmable?

No. The integrated driver supports on/off switching only. If dimming is a requirement, please contact Clightstore to discuss alternative fittings with a compatible dimmable driver.

How many fittings do I need for a standard kitchen or hallway?

For a room of 10 to 16 square metres at a 2.5-metre ceiling height, one to two units typically achieves 200–300 lux. Clightstore's free DIALux study will give you a precise layout for your space.
