ATEX lighting explained

In an explosive atmosphere, a single spark or a hot surface can ignite gas, vapour or dust. ATEX-certified fittings are designed so that they cannot become an ignition source. Under EU law (ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU), only certified equipment may be installed in classified zones.

Reading the marking

An ATEX fitting carries a marking such as equipment group, category, gas or dust group and temperature class. Make sure these match the zone classification and the substances on your site. Check the marking on each product page.
