Floodlights with motion sensor: when to choose one
Most outdoor areas are empty for most of the night. A floodlight with a motion sensor only switches on when it detects movement and turns off after a set time, which can save up to 70% extra energy compared with a light that burns until morning.
- Driveways and entrancesLight the way home or to the door without leaving it on all night.
- Loading bays and yardsFull light when a truck or worker arrives, nothing in between.
- SecuritySudden light is one of the most effective deterrents for intruders.
- Small car parksStaff and visitor parking that's used only at certain times.

Mounting tips
Mount the floodlight so the sensor faces the path people walk across, not straight at them: sensors react best to sideways movement. Avoid pointing it at a public road or trees that move in the wind, which can cause false triggers.
