Description

Why choose the EX LED Floodlight 150W

Most LED floodlights are simply not permitted in classified hazardous locations. This fitting carries full ATEX certification for gas and dust zones, meaning it meets the legal and insurance requirements for refineries, chemical plants, grain handling facilities and similar sites. At 120 lm/W it cuts energy consumption dramatically versus the HID sources it replaces, without compromising on the safety approvals your site demands.

  • ATEX certification: Approved for Zone 1, 2, 21 and 22, covering both explosive gas and combustible dust atmospheres, so the fitting is compliant wherever classified hazardous areas are present.
  • Efficacy: 120 lm/W from 150W produces 18,000 lm, cutting energy use by roughly 60% compared with a 400W metal halide equivalent.
  • Build quality: Die-cast aluminium housing with IP66 ingress protection withstands dust, high-pressure water jets and an operating range of -40 to 50°C without performance loss.
  • Lifespan and warranty: A rated lifespan of 100,000 hours and a 5-year warranty reduce maintenance interventions in locations where lamp changes are costly, complex and subject to hot-work permits.

Where to use it

The EX LED Floodlight 150W is suited to outdoor and indoor hazardous locations requiring between 100 and 300 lux at working level. Typical applications include oil and gas processing yards, chemical storage areas, paint spray booths, grain silos, flour mills, fuel loading bays and offshore platform decks. Mounting heights of 6 to 12 metres are typical, with the 90° beam angle providing controlled coverage of work zones without excessive spill.

What the specifications mean in practice

  • 120 lm/W: For every watt consumed you receive 120 lumens of output, translating directly into lower electricity bills and a faster return on investment versus HID sources.
  • IP66: The enclosure is fully dust-tight and protected against powerful water jets, making it suitable for outdoor installation and washdown environments.
  • Zone 1, 2, 21, 22: The fitting is legally certified for areas where flammable gases, vapours or combustible dusts may be present, either continuously or intermittently.
  • -40 to 50°C operating range: The driver and housing maintain rated performance in extreme cold-store environments as well as hot industrial or outdoor summer conditions.
  • 100,000 hours: At 12 hours of daily operation this equates to over 22 years before the source reaches end of rated life, minimising costly access and permit-to-work procedures.

Installation and compatibility

The fitting accepts 100–277V AC via the integrated Moso driver, making it compatible with standard European and international supply voltages without additional transformers. Mounting is via the adjustable bracket supplied. Dimming is not available on this variant. Note that delivery for this ATEX-certified product is 14 business days. Clightstore provides a free DIALux light study to confirm spacing and mounting height for your specific site layout.

Frequently asked questions

Is this floodlight suitable for Zone 0 or Zone 20 areas?

No. This fitting is certified for Zone 1, 2, 21 and 22 only. Zone 0 and Zone 20, where explosive atmospheres are present continuously, require a higher category of ATEX equipment not covered by this product.

Why is the delivery time 14 business days instead of the standard 2–5 days?

ATEX-certified luminaires are specialist products built to order and subject to additional quality and compliance checks before dispatch. The 14-business-day lead time reflects this process and applies to all EX-rated products in the range.

Can this floodlight be dimmed or connected to a control system?

This variant does not support dimming. It operates at full output on any supply voltage between 100 and 277V. If dimming or DALI control is a site requirement, please contact Clightstore to discuss available options.
